Dishwashers Repair, Done Right the First Time

LG’s front-control and top-control dishwashers share most of their working parts regardless of trim level: a filter and drain pump that remove the water, a wash pump and spray arms that move it, a heating circuit, and a door latch that tells the control it is safe to start. What differs between models is mainly the control panel and, occasionally, the exact fault-code set displayed – which is why we confirm the model before reading much into a letter on the screen.

Because several of LG’s dishwasher codes reuse letters from its washer line with a different meaning attached, we treat the two as separate vocabularies even when a code looks familiar. LE means the cleaning motor here, not a door lock; nE points at the Vario pump rather than anything electrical elsewhere in the machine. Getting that distinction right the first time avoids ordering a part that was never the problem.

We isolate the dishwasher at the breaker and let it cool before any panel is opened, and we test the drain path, the wash pump and the heating circuit in that order, because standing water and poor cleaning trace back to those far more often than to the control board.
