What actually happens inside a Styler, and why doesn't it wash anything?

A Styler moves heated air and steam over garments hanging still on rails inside the cabinet, using moving hangers to help work wrinkles out, rather than tumbling or washing them in water. That is a genuinely different mechanism from a washer or dryer, which is why its parts list - a steam generator, a compressor-driven heat exchanger, thermistors at several points in the air and steam path, and a fan - does not overlap much with either laundry appliance.

My Styler shows a tE code. What does that tell you?

More than most codes do, because LG splits the thermistor faults into five separate numbers rather than one general sensor code - tE1 is the duct-out thermistor, tE2 the compressor thermistor, tE3 the duct-in thermistor, tE4 the steam thermistor and tE5 the EVA-in thermistor. Reading the exact number off the display narrows the fault to one sensor before a technician even arrives.

The display shows CL or dn1, dn2 or dn3. Is that a fault?

No. CL is the child-lock indicator, the same as on LG's washers and dryers, and dn1 through dn3 mark downloaded cycles added to the unit rather than anything wrong with it. Neither is a reason to book a repair on its own.

How available are parts for a Styler compared with an LG washer or dryer?
