What dS Means
dS is the freezer defrost sensor fault. LG's article groups it with the other sensor codes (FS, rS) as a component issue needing professional inspection; its own digital-code reference adds that a dS fault can let the evaporator ice over because defrost timing depends on that sensor's reading.
Common Causes of dS
- Defrost sensor has failed or lost contact
- Sensor wiring has come loose
- Heavy ice buildup on the evaporator is affecting the sensor reading

Power-cycle the unit once (unplug about a minute, plug back in) and watch whether the code returns; beyond that there's no owner-level fix, since the defrost sensor is buried against the evaporator coil behind the freezer's rear panel.
