What dE, dE4 (Dryer Door) Means
dE (or dE4) means the dryer door isn't completely closed, per LG's dryer Help Library article, which names an item of clothing stuck in the door, or a misaligned door frame, as the likely causes.
Common Causes of dE, dE4 (Dryer Door)
- Clothing or an object caught between the door and the frame
- Lint filter not fully pushed in, preventing the door from seating
- Door frame misaligned or damaged (especially on a newly delivered unit)
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Open the door, make sure the lint filter is pushed all the way in and no clothing is caught on the door edge, then close it firmly; if the unit is brand new and the door frame looks visibly bent or damaged, contact the dealer rather than trying to force it shut.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- If the unit is new and the door frame shows visible damage or bending, that's a delivery/installation issue to raise with the dealer, not something to force closed repeatedly.
- If a proper reset (unplug, wait 5 seconds, reconnect, close the door firmly, start a cycle) still triggers dE/dE4, the door latch or its sensor needs a technician's inspection.
