What CH01, CH02, CH06, CH12, CH41, CH42, CH43, CH44, CH45, CH46, CH47, CH48, E1, E2, E3, E7, E8 Means

LG's own troubleshooting article groups all of these codes together under one shared explanation rather than giving each its own meaning: they indicate a problem with a sensor - most likely a faulty temperature or pipe sensor, a loose or disconnected sensor, a main circuit board error, or a temporary electrical issue. This group is specific to LG's larger "System" (multi-zone/ducted) air conditioners; note that F2 and F3 mean something completely different (fan speed, not a fault) on LG's simpler window and portable room units - see the separate F1/F2/F3 entry for that distinction.

Common Causes of CH01, CH02, CH06, CH12, CH41, CH42, CH43, CH44, CH45, CH46, CH47, CH48, E1, E2, E3, E7, E8

  • Faulty temperature or pipe sensor
  • Sensor loose or disconnected
  • Main circuit board error
  • Temporary electrical issue (power fluctuation)

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

Unplug the air conditioner, or turn off its circuit breaker if you can't reach the plug, wait about five minutes, then restore power and check whether the error code has cleared.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • The safety condition comes first: never disassemble the air conditioner or replace internal parts yourself - LG's own warning for this exact code group states doing so may cause fire, electric shock, serious injury, or death.
  • If the same error code reappears after you reset the power, LG says to stop using the product and request service to prevent further damage rather than repeating the reset.

Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

CH01, CH02, CH06, CH12, CH41, CH42, CH43, CH44, CH45, CH46, CH47, CH48, E1, E2, E3, E7, E8 FAQ

LG says this usually happens due to a temporary power or communication issue, and you can continue using the air conditioner if it's operating normally - but a repeated error may indicate an internal circuit or wiring problem, so stop and call for service if it comes back.

LG's larger System air conditioners use this grouped CH/E/F code list for sensor faults, while its simpler room air conditioners use F1/F2/F3 purely as a fan-speed indicator with no fault meaning at all - check which type of LG air conditioner you actually have before assuming either meaning.
