WM3998HBA was a 4.5 cu. ft. all-in-one washer/dryer built on the same single-drum, heat-pump principle as LG’s current WM9998HBA, just without the SIGNATURE badge and at a mid-size capacity. LG’s own product page now flags this exact model discontinued, which puts it in a common position for this appliance class: enough of them were sold that the platform’s fault codes and parts are well understood, but there’s no factory listing left to point an owner back to.
As with every WashCombo, the diagnostic question is always which half of the shared cycle is actually failing. A wash that completes normally followed by a dry cycle that runs long or throws dHE means the heat-pump and its internal lint path are the problem, not the drum, motor or bearing that both phases depend on equally.
