What Ed2 Means
Ed2 means the liquid detergent level in the ezDispense reservoir didn't decrease as expected, and LG's control board specifically reads this as an open circuit in the detergent pump (as opposed to Ed1's general pump fault reading), per LG's front-load washer Help Library article.
Common Causes of Ed2
- Dried detergent residue blocking flow, mimicking a pump fault
- Open circuit (broken electrical connection) in the detergent pump wiring
- Detergent pump itself has failed
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check the detergent type and clear any residue from the dispenser tray, the same first steps as for Ed1; if the pump's electrical circuit is genuinely open, cleaning won't resolve it.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- An open-circuit reading specifically points toward a wiring or pump-motor fault rather than a simple clog, so if cleaning the tray doesn't clear Ed2, don't keep repeating that step - it needs a technician's electrical check.
