What nP Means
nP means no current is being detected at the heater, which LG's dryer Help Library article says normally points to a problem with the electrical wiring in the home rather than the dryer itself.
Common Causes of nP
- Power cord not securely connected to a properly grounded 240V outlet
- Tripped or weak circuit breaker
- Home electrical wiring issue supplying insufficient voltage to the dryer
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check that the power cord is securely plugged into a grounded outlet matching the dryer's rating plate (240V), and reset the circuit breaker from the home's main panel by turning the dryer's breaker off for at least 10 seconds before restoring it.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- If checking the cord connection and resetting the breaker doesn't clear nP, LG recommends having the home's outlet checked by a licensed electrician - this is a household wiring concern, not something to keep testing on the dryer itself.
- A dryer heater that isn't getting proper current can be a symptom of a larger home electrical problem (an undersized circuit, worn wiring) that a licensed electrician needs to evaluate, not just the appliance.
