What HS (Humidity Sensor) Means

Common Causes of HS (Humidity Sensor)
- Dryer-sheet residue or lint buildup on the humidity sensor contacts
- Humidity sensor itself has failed
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Clean the humidity sensors located just below the lint filter and let them fully dry before running another cycle - a buildup of dryer-sheet residue or lint on these small metal strips is a common, non-hardware cause of this code.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- If cleaning the sensor strips (usually two small metal bars just below the lint filter opening) doesn't clear a repeat HS code, the sensor needs technician-level replacement.
- A dryer running the extended 2.5-hour cycle repeatedly because of a faulted humidity sensor is both an inconvenience and a sign the fault isn't clearing on its own - don't just accept the longer runtime as normal indefinitely.
