What CL (Child / Control Lock) Means
CL is not an error on either LG front-load or top-load washers - it's the Child Lock/Control Lock indicator, which disables the control panel to prevent accidental changes mid-cycle or by curious kids.
Common Causes of CL (Child / Control Lock)
- Child Lock was intentionally enabled
- The lock button combination was pressed accidentally

Press and hold the Child Lock (or Control Lock) button for about 3 seconds to toggle it off; the exact button and hold time can vary slightly by model, so check your washer's quick-start guide if the standard press doesn't clear it.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- There's no fault to diagnose - a service call for a CL display alone would be paying to have someone press the same button you can press yourself.
