What Ed3 Means
Ed3 means the liquid softener level in the ezDispense reservoir didn't decrease as expected, which LG's control board reads as a faulty softener pump, per LG's front-load washer Help Library article. LG notes only liquid softener - not powder - can be used in this dispenser.
Common Causes of Ed3
- Powder softener used in a reservoir designed only for liquid softener
- Dried softener residue blocking the dispenser tray or nozzle
- Softener pump itself has failed
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Confirm you're using liquid fabric softener, not powder (powder softener should be added manually to the drum, not the ezDispense reservoir), and clear any residue from the tray that could be blocking flow.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- If you've confirmed liquid-only softener is being used and residue is cleared but Ed3 persists, the pump needs a technician's replacement.
