What IE, E02, E10 Means

IE means the tub didn't fill to an adequate water level within the time LG's control board allows, per both the front-load and top-load Help Library articles. Common causes are a closed or disconnected supply, a kinked inlet hose, or a frozen line in cold weather.

Common Causes of IE, E02, E10

  • Water supply tap closed or hose disconnected
  • Inlet hose kinked, pinched, or bent from the washer shifting during use
  • Inlet hose or taps frozen in cold weather
  • Inlet filter (inside the hose connection) clogged with sediment

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

Check that both hot and cold water taps behind the washer are fully open and that the inlet hoses aren't kinked or pinched; if you're in a cold snap and suspect a frozen line, disconnect the hose and check whether water flows from the tap itself before assuming the washer is at fault.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • If you suspect a frozen line, thaw it with a warm (not boiling) water-soaked towel wrapped around the tap and hose rather than any direct heat source, since boiling water risks burns and damaging the hose fittings.
  • If water flows fine from the tap directly but IE persists once the hose is reconnected, the water inlet valve inside the washer itself may be malfunctioning and needs a technician to replace it.
  • Cleaning the inlet filter means disconnecting a pressurized hose - close the tap fully first, since the hose will still hold water and can spray on release.

Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

FAQ

IE, E02, E10 FAQ

With the tap closed, disconnect the hose from the tap end, pull out the small mesh filter with your fingers or pliers, clear off any rust or sediment, and reassemble before reconnecting.

Yes - a household water outage or a genuinely frozen supply line outside the washer will produce the same IE code; check other taps in the house first if you're unsure.
