What rT Means
rT is the external (ambient) temperature sensor fault, confirmed on LG's own error-code list and digital-code reference. It affects how the refrigerator adjusts its cooling for room conditions, and LG calls for professional inspection rather than a home fix.

- External/ambient temperature sensor has failed
- Sensor wiring connector is loose or damaged

A single power-cycle (unplug about a minute, reconnect) is the only self-help step LG documents; if rT reappears, the sensor itself needs replacement by a technician.
