What CO Means
CO indicates a communication error between the main control board and the display, per LG's error-code list and its dedicated E CO article. LG notes this inspection code can sometimes be triggered by a temporary issue such as an unstable power supply.
Common Causes of CO
- Temporary power fluctuation or unstable supply
- Main board or display PCB failure
- A wiring connection between the boards has come loose
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Unplug the refrigerator (or trip its dedicated circuit breaker) and wait about five minutes before restoring power, since LG's own article says the error can clear after a reset and only needs service if it keeps repeating.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- If the same CO code returns after a reset, that's LG's own signal to stop resetting and have a technician check the boards and wiring rather than repeatedly power-cycling the unit.
- Opening the control panel or rear access covers to inspect board connections yourself risks damaging ribbon-cable connectors that are easy to seat incorrectly.
