What FU (Cycle Error) Means
FU indicates a freezer compartment cycle fault: LG's digital-and-analog reference describes it as the freezer failing to drop below 3.5 degrees Celsius within 10 minutes of startup, or the temperature rising above that threshold during normal operation.
Common Causes of FU (Cycle Error)
- Door not sealing fully or opened too frequently, letting in warm air
- Food blocking internal air vents and restricting airflow
- Compressor or sealed-system fault preventing the freezer from reaching temperature
- Unit plugged into a power strip or shared outlet affecting performance
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Unplug the unit for 60 seconds and restart it on a direct wall outlet (not a power strip), then check that the freezer is set to about -18°C, that the door seals fully, and that no food is blocking the internal air vents before deciding the code is a genuine fault.
