What HI (High Ambient Temperature Warning) Means
HI is the opposite of Lo: LG's digital-and-analog reference describes it as a warning that ambient temperature around the unit has risen above +50 degrees Celsius (122°F), and the refrigerator won't perform optimally in that environment. It's not a hardware failure.
Common Causes of HI (High Ambient Temperature Warning)
- Refrigerator installed in an uninsulated garage or shed in extreme heat
- Unit placed too close to a heat source (oven, direct sun through a window, heating vent)
- Poor ventilation clearance around the back and sides of the unit
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
If possible, improve ventilation around the unit or relocate it away from direct heat sources (a hot garage, a spot next to a range or heat vent) - this code is describing the room, not something inside the refrigerator to repair.
